2011 WLALA Litigators Forum

Biases and Assumptions Based on Gender, Race and National Origin: Change the Mindset of Judges, Juries, Clients and Law Firms

The 2011 Litigators Forum will focus on unconscious biases encountered by women and minority litigators, the manifestation and impact of these biases and assumptions both inside and outside the courtroom, and solutions for addressing and eliminating them. The program will include two panel discussions. The first panel, entitled Bias In the Courtroom, will discuss the implicit biases and assumptions faced by female and minority attorneys in the courtroom. Panelists include the Honorable Fumiko Wasserman, jury consultants Cynthia Cohen and Johanna Carrane, and judicial educator Kimberly Papillon. The second panel entitled Master Women Litigators will feature three accomplished female litigators Shawn Chapman Holley, Ruth Kahn and Nina Marino who will share their personal experiences of achieving professional success.
