3 Hours of CLE credits, including 1 hour of Elimination of Bias CLE.

This CLE program and discussion forum will be of interest to both litigation and transaction attorneys. The Elimination of Bias presentation will include recent findings that demonstrate how "implicit" bias can influence decisions among judges and lawyers in the justice system. Strategies that can be used to reduce the effect of "implicit" bias in the courts, in dealing with opposing counsel and in representation of client interests will be discussed, along with the phenomenon of beliefs held by judges and lawyers that their behaviors are NOT biased because so much work has gone into eliminating or preventing explicit bias.

The ADR portion of the CLE program will focus on the emergence of alternative dispute resolution practice, current areas of research into the efficacy of ADR, and effective use of mediation and other alternative dispute resolution techniques.
