Please join APAWLA and Bet Tzedek at our upcoming Family Preparedness Workshop! Families in Los Angeles County today can face a whole range of obstacles, including emergencies that may take parents out of the country and make them temporarily unable to care for their children. The consequences can be devastating - children can be left without any person having the legal authority to enroll them in school or to authorize medical treatment.

APAWLA seeks attorney and non-attorney volunteers to conduct one-on-one consultations and help equip families with the knowledge and tools necessary to provide for their children's temporary care.

MCLE-eligible training will be provided for volunteers promptly at 12:00PM.

Featured Entertainment: Brian Yamamoto & Dane Matsumura
Brian Yamamoto is soft-spoken off-stage, but an explosive singer on-stage. His ability to capture the essence of every song is uncanny, especially when one witnesses the range of his repertoire. Just try to pick a song that he doesn't know! His performing styles range from rhythm and blues, country, gospel to Hawaiian. It doesn't matter if it's a James Brown song or a Frank Sinatra standard; Brian never gives you a chance to miss the original. He has sung with Local Mojo for the last five years and is a large reason for the band's popularity. Additionally, he is a popular solo artist whose performances have helped support community-based organizations such as the ACLU and other progressive causes.

Dane Matsumura was 13 years old when he began playing the electric base guitar. After high school, he was on the road for two years with a nightclub cover band that performed all over the Western United States and Canada. In 1978 he joined the Asian American band "Hiroshima" and played on their first two albums, titled "Hiroshima" and "Odori." In 1981, he received a Grammy nomination for "Best R&B Instrumental Performance" as one of the co-writers of "Winds of Change" from Hiroshima's second album. He performed and toured with Hiroshima until 1982. He has produced three CDs for Crane Productions. He resides in Gardena, CA and is currently a freelance bassist.
